Bat fo' Lashes

Last time I blogged about Bat for Lashes, it was April of last year when I linked her radical music video for "What's a Boy to Do?"

With her new album Two Suns, coming out in April (and is currently circulating around the web), I figured it's as good a time as any to blog about her again. Here are two tracks off her forthcoming second LP as well as some interesting artwork for the album's first single, "Daniel"...

Yes, that is the Karate Kid painted on her back.

The aforementioned single in 80s-synth-terrific, but maintains the eerie and haunting staples of Ms. Bat for Lashes, Natasha Khan. An interesting listen, more appropriate for car ride during a setting sun rather than a windows down, 'let's celebrate the return of warm weather to Michigan' jam.

I'm also posting "Sleep Alone," the second track from Two Suns. It has a similar chugging rhythm to "What's a Boy to Do?" which grabs your attention and keeps it; one of the biggest weaknesses of her 2006 debut, Fur of Gold, was that her songs got lost in themselves and evaporated. However, her melodies have always been pretty and her voice is lush, so it's good to hear her sonically improving.
