MP3s: Tracks From Greenwood Sharps' Things Familiar EP

What do you get when you cross Panda Bear with IDM? Well, there's no definitive answer to that (yet?), but London's Greenwood Sharps comes pretty close.

The UK post-dupstep producer self-released his Things Familiar EP in May and his wonky beats are sure worm their way into yr ear-space like some sort of Ceti eel.

Download MP3s of Animal Collective's New Cassette EP

I've been listening to a whole bunch of Animal Collective-related goodness lately. There's their ATP-curation mixtape, Panda Bear's DJ set on NPR's All Songs Considered and, best of all, AC's new shoe-related cassette.

You've been able to stream the tape since Monday, but here are MP3s of Panda Bear, Avey Tare, Deakin and Geologist's never-before-heard solo tracks. I still think it's odd there's now an Animal Collective shoe line, but maybe these songs justify it? I won't be happy until they get their own line of action figures.

Tracklist:

1. Geologist - Jailhouse
2. Avey Tare - Call Home (Buy Grapes)
3. Deakin - Country Report
4. Panda Bear - The Preakness

Panda Bear Drops a Mastered Track from Tomboy, Sweet

Panda Bear's forthcoming Tomboy is such a highly anticipated record because 1. Person Pitch was amazing 2. He's part of the Animal Collective and 3. There's few things better than Brian Wilson harmonies juxtaposed with liquidy samples.

The LP doesn't drop till April 12, but Noah Lennox (his real name) has been releasing singles since last summer, which also happen to make up six of the album's 11 tracks. "Last Night at the Jetty" is the first taste of officially mastered goodness and it doesn't disappoint.

Listen to the skittering Beach Boy vibes below, plus a few related tracks including "Slow Motion," which is also Tomboy bound.

Panda Bear Joins Ducktails, Awesome Obviously Ensues

Ducktail's Arcade Dynamics is only ten days old and it's already a contender for my 'Best Albums of 2011' list.

As if you needed a reason to seek out this album other than its jangly, lo-fi pop stylings and homemade charms, Panda Bear hopped on the LP's "Killin' the Vibe" and the results are sublime.

Grab the Panda Bear "remix" + one of my favourite tracks of last year.

New Panda Bear B-Side - "Slow Motion"

So the new Panda Bear single, Tomboy/Slow Motion, is already sold out. Bummer news for Noah Lennox vinyl-die-hards, but the rest of us can get our fix digitally via iTunes come July 20th -- and by fix, I mean snag a high-quality version of the single's a-side, "Tomboy" -- Until next week then, you and I are stuck with the almost trip-hop sounding b-side, "Slow Motion."

You will dig it, so download below.

P.S. In case your fingers have been far from the Animal Collective pulse, Tomboy/Slow Motion is the first release of a singles-series that'll lead up to the release of Panda Bear's third album, also titled Tomboy, due out this fall. The next single scheduled, You Can Count on Me/Alsatian Darn, will drop later this summer on Domino.
