Radiohead Killed It on Their Latest From the Basement

As you may remember, Radiohead were due to play all of King of Limbs on Nigel Godrich's From The Basement web performance series. Well, the show premiered abroad two nights ago, but thanks to the miracle of the internets, you can watch the whole thing on the YouTubes.

The biggest story (for me, anyways) was that the band performed two new tracks, the formerly blogged "Staircase" and the McCartney-eque "The Daily Mail." You can download HQ rips of both standouts below.

MP3: Brand New Radiohead - "Staircase"

Wait, where did this come from? Seemingly out of nowhere, Radiohead have graced the internet with a brand new track this morning. Titled "Staircase," the song's in line with the band's most recent King of Limbs sound--heavy on rhythm, repetition and smooth bass lines--though I may like it more than just about any other cut from that record. Well done, sirs.

The video above is part of Nigel Godrich's From The Basement web performance series, which will host Thom Yorke and co. for the third time on July 1st. And while they'll probably be playing most of King of Limb (and "Staircase"), fingers crossed for a least one more new track. Grab a HQ MP3 down below...

Surfer Blood Play New Song Live & Cover Pavement

I like Surfer Blood. You (should) like Surfer Blood. Though the Florida dudes don't have any plans for a new record, they played a live session for Halfway House Music a little while back. This is cool because...

1. They played two of their best songs from Astro Coast, one of the best records of the year.
2. The played a new, chill, west-coasty track, "I'm Not Ready."
3. They covered Pavement's "Box Elder" and covering Pavement is always a win.

It's a little crazy to think the band dropped Astro Coast in January this year. The Weezer-esque tunes seem ripe for summer memories, but I first listened to the album in a cold bus driving to Syracuse in a snowstorm. Surfer Blood = wintertime?
